Questionnaires

Adrenal Questionnaire – use this questionnaire to determine if adrenal support may be of benefit to you as you rebalance your hormones naturally.

Estrogen/Progesterone Decline – use this questionnaire to determine if decreases and/or imbalances in estrogen and/or progesterone are leading to your symptoms. Provides a simple, easy place to start for those who would like to try some natural

Osteoporosis Questionnaire – Use this questionnaire to determine your risk of osteoporosis and to help you determine which measures may help you improve your bone health.

Testing
Following menopause, a marked decrease in estrogen production results in distinct changes in female physiology. While many women transition effortlessly into this next phase of their lives, dramatic reductions in hormone levels, or imbalances between estrogen, progesterone and testosterone, can lead to disturbing menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, urinary incontinence, impaired memory, altered lipid (cholesterol and triglyceride) metabolism, vaginal dryness/irritation and accelerated aging of the skin.

By the time a woman reaches menopause, her total estrogen production has typically declined by 40-80% and her androgen production by 50-95%. These changes in hormones can lead to increased risk for osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease, and impaired functions such as immune regulation, mood, glycemic control, sex drive and cognition. Because of the critical hormone precursor role assumed by the adrenals in menopause, impaired adrenal function can result in deficiencies in sex hormones.

Establishing baseline measurements of estrogens, progesterone and testosterone is critical in determining the need for natural approaches to hormone rebalancing and to customize and individual program for you. The Menopause Profile examines 3 saliva samples for levels of estradiol, estrone, estriol and progesterone. A single measurement of testosterone is also provided.

The comprehensive version of this test includes circadian analyses of cortisol and melatonin, and an assay of DHEA. Since proper functioning of the adrenal glands is key in maintaining adequate hormone levels in the post-menopausal woman, this combination of markers is particularly recommended.

Bone Resorption Assessment - A simple, direct urinary assay of pyridinium cross links and deoxypyridinium, useful in identifying the current rate of bone turnover allowing us to identify those that are more likely to develop osteoporosis and intervene before significant loss has occurred; also used to monitor the efficacy of bone support therapies.
