What do Depression, Anxiety, Insomnia, Migraines, Fibromyalgia and other chronic pain syndromes and obesity have in common?
They’re all a result of a neurotransmitter imbalance.
Neurotransmitters are the chemical messengers that travel along nerve cells and send the body important signals. When neurotransmitters become unbalanced, many of the conditions listed above tend to result.
The good news is that you can restore the balance naturally, using Amino Acid Therapy. To do this, amino acid supplements are used to supply the necessary amino acids and precursors (other nutrients involved in the biochemical formation of neurotransmitters from their specific amino acid precursors). These help restore the necessary amino acids and co-factors the body needs, and help balance neurotransmitters.
Restore balance with NeuroReplete
Getting started is simple. Start with 4 NeuroReplete (NR), twice daily (in the AM and at 4 PM) with 2 CysReplete (CR), three times daily (the first dose at noon).
AM | NOON | 4 PM | 7 PM |
4 NR | — | 4 NR | — |
2 CR | 2 CR | 2 CR |
Note: If you experience nausea with the above protocol, it is an indication that your serotonin levels are very low and you will need to increase your amino acid dosing more slowly. See ‘Nausea at the Start of Amino Acid Therapy’ below for more information.
It is very important that you do not miss any doses of amino acid therapy for optimal results; if you do miss a dose, you may experience a ‘relapse’ in symptoms for 3-5 days.
Medications that deplete neurotransmitter balance
Many medications can cause depletion of neurotransmitters in addition to other nutrients, including all anti-depression, anti-anxiety, migraine and sleep medications. If you have taken or are currently taking medications that deplete neurotransmitter levels (including all selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) and selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) medications), you may want to consider taking the following products in addition to the NeuroReplete and CysReplete above to restore proper nutritional status:
CoQ10 (100 mg) – 1 gelcap daily with food
Glycogenics – 1 tablet twice daily with food
In addition, taking the NeuroReplete and CysReplete as recommended above will help stop further depletion of neurotransmitters and will help improve the effectiveness of anti-depression, anti-anxiety, migraine and sleep medications (including all SSRI and SNRI) medications.

Nausea at the Start of Amino Acid Therapy
If you experience nausea upon starting amino acid therapy that gets worse each time you take the amino acids your neurotransmitter levels are most likely very low and we need to ease your body into amino acid therapy.
The first thing to try is to take the amino acids with a little bit of food (crackers or applesauce work well for most people). If that does not help, do the following:
1) Discontinue taking the amino acids/NeuroReplete during the day.
2) Begin by taking 1 NeuroReplete at night just before going to sleep.
3) After 3-4 days of no nausea, increase to 2 NeuroReplete before going to sleep.
4) Repeat this process until you are taking 4 NeuroReplete before bed. Once you can do this with no nausea, begin taking 4 NeuroReplete in the morning and 1 NeuroReplete at night before bed.
5) Continue the same process of increasing your NeuroReplete dosage by 1 capsule every 3-4 days (without nausea) until you are taking 4 NeuroReplete in the morning and 4 NeuroReplete before bed.
6) Now you can begin taking the NeuroReplete as directed.
This approach to rebuilding Amino Acids can help rebuild your neurotransmitter balance. For more information and discuss your case in greater detail, contact the Natural Path Health Center.
I need help I haven’t slept and I just had a baby . Where would I get the Neuroreplete. Please help!!
Hi Shalini,
Thanks for your inquiry; you have two options: (1) give us a call and set up an initial consultation (it’s just $60) over the phone or in-person so I can get some more information and make the necessary recommendations or (2) go to http://naturalsolutionsforahealthyyou.com/amino-acid-therapy-products/ and complete the application for a Basic Membership and the Restricted Product Purchasing Request. Note, if you do not know the exact amino acid dosing you require, you need to do option 1.
I have two young children and I sympathize with you! I hope you get some sleep again soon!

I take a number of vitamins & minerals. should I stop taking those when I take these? Multi-vitamins usually cause nausea so I take them with meals, as I do with most of my supliments. is it OK to do that with these?
Hi Steve,
Great question – the only supplements/nutraceuticals that you should avoid while trying to restore proper neurotransmitter function are those products that contain amino acids that would interfere with serotonin and/or catecholamine production. This includes 5-HTP, L-tryptophan, L-tyrosine and L-dopa. Vitamins and minerals would be fine to take.
If you are not currently working with a provider skilled in the use of amino acid therapy, I suggest you give our office a call and set up an appointment. The use of amino acid therapy to correct neurotransmitter imbalance is rarely straightforward and a skilled practitioner can significantly improve your chances of success.
Good luck!

If I experience upset stomach and have to cut down on neuroreplete initially do I need to cut down the cysreplete too until getting to regular neuroreplete doses? Also will I have to take these forever?
Hi Amber – thanks for the inquiry; you should certainly check with your provider on how they would like you to proceed. Generally, we have people decrease or discontinue the cysreplete while they are titrating up the neuroreplete. How long you need to take them is depend on a number of factors; if you don’t have neurotoxicity, you should be able to wean off of them once proper functioning is restored.
Hope this helps!
Sincerely,
Dr Chad

what’s the number to get the products..? And do they really restore nuerotransmitters back to normal cause my systems thrown off from years of antidepressant use also I’m currently taking an ssri can I take the products with the ssri too. I don’ t mean to be a bit of a sceptic but I’ve tried other products with little to no results and I’m sick of psych meds I just want to feel better without those meds…
Hi Kyle,
You can give us a call at 608-274-7044.
I think a healthy dose of skepticism keeps us asking questions, which is a very good thing.
With proper guidance and use of testing, taking properly balanced amino acids can absolutely restore proper neurotransmitter function in almost all cases we’ve seen. The path may not always be straightforward, but healing rarely is.
Give us a call or contact us through the website: https://naturalpathhealthcenter.com/contact-us/.
I look forward to speaking with you –

Dr. Chad
I am currently taking prozac and saboxine and lithium.Struggled for over 20 yrs with bipolar, eating disorders and many different drug addictions. My Dr. has me taking 2 of each at 8 am and 4pm but this is very hard bec w/ the eating disorder sometimes the pills don’t stay down.I sure would do better keeping everything down if I could take my 2nd dose close to bedtime. Please help?
Hi Stephanie,
Thanks for contacting us. There are many ways to take the amino acids, so I would certainly suggest that you speak with your provider to find a dosing schedule that works better for you. It is not at all uncommon to take amino acids before bed.
Good luck!
Dr. Chad
Hi,
These comments are quite old.. do you still do phone consultations?

How quickly can I expect to have results from the Neuroreplete?
Hi Rochelle,
Thanks for the comment; working with amino acids isn’t so much about the length of time at a given dosage, its about finding the right dosage/blend of amino acids you need to optimize your neurotransmitter function. If you haven’t seen a dramatic improvement after being on a given dose of amino acids for 7-10 days (assuming you haven’t missed any doses) your amino acids levels need to be adjusted to get you closer to your ideal dose. Very often, this will require testing to determine which direction you need to adjust your amino acid dosing.
The upshot is that you need to work with your provider to help determine what your ideal amino acid dose is in order to get your neurotransmitter function optimized and get any symptoms due to neurotransmitter imbalance under control.
Hope this helps – if we can be of further service, please don’t hesitate to contact us: http://amino-acid-therapy.com/contact-us/

Dr. Chad
How long are you supposed to stay on Nero replete, I was hearing 6 months does that sound right?
Hi Ben – thanks for the comment.
It’s not a question of how long you need to be on any given product, but rather (a) getting your neurotransmitter function optimized, (b) staying on the dose of amino acids that optimizes neurotransmitter function for a sufficient period of time to overcome any relative nutritional deficiencies (generally 3-9 months) and then (c) seeing if a lesser dose can be achieved while maintaining optimal neurotransmitter function (which means no symptoms).
Hope that helps!
Dr Chad
Hello ,
I’m going through a post withdrawal from ssri, though it has been over 2 years that I came off lexapro but I’m still struggling with many symptoms , my homeopathic doctor has put me on this protocol and I was wondering if I still have to add the coq10 and glycogenics. Thank you
Greetings Imek – thanks for contacting us. It would be difficult to know what your needs are without a more complete workout. I would suggest a test like a NutrEval from Genova to find out: https://gdx.net/product/nutreval-fmv-nutritional-test-blood-urine.
Good luck!
Sincerely,
Dr. Chad
I takinng 4+1,2,4+2,2 & I counted my capsule 240 & 180 its been 8 days i did the math i missed 2 dose of cyroplete how do I catch up safely swig shift worker .thanks
Hi William – thanks for the comment/question. Unfortunately, you cannot ‘catch up’ on your dosing; you’ll need to speak with your provider about the best course of action, but they will likely have you journal your dosing and continue for another 7 days before making an assessment of progress.
Sincerely,
Dr Chad
Do you use the D5 one also?
Is it ok to use that one with the mucana without cycling it?
Hi Bronko – we do use D5 – it is basically NeuroReplete with Mucuna 40% added to it. We often don’t use D5 along with Mucuna 40% as it is easier to keep them separate if serotonin dosing adjustments are necessary.
Hope this helps –
Dr Chad
I used the cys/neuroreplete protocol about 10 years ago for 2 years. I needed Replete Extra for the first few months. My migraines disappeared almost immediately. I went off of them at 18 months and the headaches returned, so I did 6 more months. After that, I went off of them. Now, my headache frequency is increasing again. I notice the Mucana products are now part of your system. What is Mucana and how does it help?
Hi Lorna,
The Mucuna 40% products are used when testing indicates the need for additional dopamine support.
If you had a protocol that was working for you, I would suggest getting back on that protocol for at least 7 days (without missing a dose) then complete a DBS test with your provider so you can determine if any adjustments need to be made to your protocol. Then you can work to rebalance your neurotransmitter stores/function with confidence.
Good luck!!
Sincerely,
Dr Chad
