put-the-phone-downSometimes all it takes to relax and de-stress is some good old fashioned alone time.

Most of us have a device on our person all day that is buzzing, ringing and flashing with texts, notifications, emails, and various other social media interactions. Think about all the time we have lost by letting this little device take over.

Make a point to disconnect from technology for a minimum of 30 minutes each day. Make a list of little things you would enjoy doing, that you currently don’t feel like you have time to do. Read, start a blog, take up knitting, take a cooking class, go for a hike, nap… I don’t know, the possibilities are endless. Once you have your list, schedule your technology detox time each day — set a kitchen timer if you have to — and enjoy doing something from your list (or just do nothing at all).

One of the biggest ways to relieve stress is to have fun or accomplish something you’ve been wanting to do/try. Not only are you ridding yourself of technology distractions and stress, but you are also enriching your life and maybe even learning something new.

You aren’t going to look back and remember fondly the days you spent playing Candy Crush and browsing Facebook for hours on end.
