Winter can be a time where we tend to let ourselves go a little bit by avoiding the snow, ice, and freezing temperatures by staying inside, keeping warm, and throwing back a few drinks. It can also be very easy to be less active with fewer outdoor activities, especially if you don’t like cold Wisconsin winters. Not to mention the stress and craziness that come with the holidays where we tend to sit and eat more but exercise and get ourselves moving less. To avoid this winter hibernation you don’t necessarily have to take up snow shoeing, cross country skiing, snowboarding, or skiing (although they are fun activities to try); you just need to get moving on a regular basis.
That’s much easier said than done with our complicated, demanding, and often frenzied daily schedules. Whether its work, kids, weather, not enough hours in the day, or lack of desire to travel to the gym there just doesn’t seem to be enough time to exercise. However, there are options to fit exercise into a busy schedule.
One of these options are simple, short home fitness programs, or HFPs, that provide the exercise you need in the time you have. By avoiding wasted time and money on long-term gym memberships and gas to go to and from the gym, HFPs can get you long-term results in a fraction of the time for a lot less money. HFPs provide a private, comfortable and readily accessible setting to exercise compared to stuffy, crowded weight rooms or waiting for a treadmill or elliptical machine. HFPs also eliminate the burden of taking your children to day care (either at the gym or somewhere else), reduce the time needed to complete a workout and are much easier to fit into your daily schedule than spending hours at the gym.
Most people try to do it themselves, either on their own or by following a DVD program. This may work for a while, but most the time, those DVDs end up collecting dust next to the TV and our good intentions fall away as life gets the better of us. A solution to this dilemma is to seek out the assistance and guidance of a fitness coach who can construct and customize a home fitness program that is tailored to your personal fitness needs, goals and abilities. A fitness coach can help you get the most out of your workouts in the time you have available while insuring you have proper form to avoid injury. A good fitness coach will keep you accountable and make your HFP fun and exciting instead of letting you fall back in the habit of “working out later” or “tomorrow” which will turn into “next week” or “next month” soon to be “next year”…you know the drill.
Don’t let another year go by – your life is waiting for you. HFPs are a great solution to achieve the body you want, but you have to get started; find a fitness coach, get moving, and get on the path to a healthier you.
