Many of our clients find that they are sensitive to some of the foods they love the most; this often presents a unique set of challenges when it comes to preparing meals. Luckily, with so many clients, we have a huge database of ideas, techniques and recipes to help you make this transition as easy as possible.

Beginning on Wednesday, March 7th at 6 pm the Natural Path Health Center and Optimal Body Balance will be hosting a potluck! We invite all of you to the center on the evening of Wednesday, March 7th to help kick off what will become a monthly event. Many of you have been asking for information and resources to help make cooking with food sensitivities easier. And we also know that some of you are dying to share your recipes and tricks. We would like to create and allergen-free evening where we can come together, share our recipes and learn from each other.

Each potluck will have a theme. The first potluck will be “Soups, Stews, Chili and More”. Just bring a big batch of your favorite soup, stew, chili or some sort of crock-pot meal to share. If you don’t have a favorite, make something you’ve always wanted to try, or check out the Optimal Body Balance blog for some terrific and tasty ideas.

Here are the specifics:

  1. Please try to make your dish as allergen-free as possible. Ideally we would like everyone to be able to try every dish, so we ask that you try to eliminate these seven foods from your dishes: cow’s dairy, wheat, soy, corn, eggs, peanuts and sugar (you can use agave nectar, xylitol, stevia and fruit/fruit sweeteners).
  2. You must sign up by email with your recipe and how many will be attending – family and friends are more than welcome – the more the merrier! Please RSVP by the Friday before the potluck. In this case, that would be Friday, March 2nd. If you decide at the last minute to come, that is fine, we just need you to RSVP so we can get an accurate head-count.
  3. Bring your dish fully cooked. We will have limited space for food prep and cooking; we have an oven and stovetop to warm dishes if needed on a first-come, first-served basis.
  4. Please bring any serving utensils you need! We will supply silverware and dishes.
  5. If your dish does contain an allergen, make sure everyone at the potluck knows it! Label your dish with the allergen it contains.
  6. Email us your recipe ahead of time and we will compile all the recipes and email them out to everyone who attends.

We are very excited to see all of you and eat some great food! We hope you will join us!
