This post comes to us from our friends at Optimal Body Balance.
I’m sure most of you have seen the Corn Refiners Association “corn sugar” commercials. If you haven’t, check them out below. The FDA is not happy about these commercials; they have asked the Corn Refiners Association to stop using the term “corn sugar”. The association is using the term “corn sugar” in an attempt to revamp their image. Calling high fructose corn syrup “corn sugar” instead makes it sound more natural and safe. What everyone needs to remember is that high fructose corn syrup has been processed and modified so extensively that it is nothing like its original corn source.
The ads also proclaim that “sugar is sugar” and that “corn sugar” is fine to eat in moderation. The truth is that not all sweeteners are created equal. Stay tuned for more information about high fructose corn syrup and what it does in your body.

I farmed most of my life, and have grain haulers in my family. I also worked across from 2 plants that process corn. It’s an everyday thing for farmers and grain dealers to put very moldy corn at the bottom of truck loads, to get it sold to these plants. It doesn’t matter how much they process the corn, the mycotoxins are still there. Mycotoxins cause many health problems, including cancer. They give the same excuses with animals. They feed them grains that they were not meant to eat, because they can make money. They say we feed so many people. Then why are we importing 80% of what we eat?
Hi Brian,
These are great points! The misleading claims by the Corn Refiners Association is only the tip of the iceberg; there are so many health conditions caused or exacerbated by the use of products that use conventionally grown corn sugar and/or high fructose corn syrup I believe we will see much more litigation and/or oversight in the near future.
Thanks for sharing!
