The main tools that are available to a medical doctor are medications, so these women are often prescribed either birth control pills (if they are in the menstruating years) or hormone replacement therapy (if they are in the menopausal years). Unfortunately, these drugs don’t address the underlying imbalances and often exacerbate the long-term problem by exposing these women to synthetic forms of the sex hormones.
